Wyton Families Day 2009
All of the models in this picture suffered when water cascaded through the roof during a heavy shower and everything had to be hurriedly moved. Janet's ships had bits knocked off, the Sea Dart launcher on HMS Manchester vanished altogether, and a lot of other parts were detached. Ironically a former member of her crew visited the stand earlier. Two of Peter's helicopters lost tail rotor blades. Decals were washed off several models, two from Alec's Phantom ended up on Janet's Tornado so were recovered the next day! Water poured out of most of the models when examined back at home. All of Janet's picture labels were ruined, even though they were laminated.
As I said before, to add insult to injury we were then told that the same thing had happened the week before. If only the RAF had had the common decency to warn us of the problem when we were setting up all the damage and stress could have been avoided.
